Did you know people originally called World War One The Great War? They expected it to only last a few months and be the war to end all wars. November 11, 2018 is the one hundredth anniversary of the end of World War One, and all over Europe and North America people are remembering and honoring those who bravely took part in The Great War.
>My novel, A Refuge at Highland Hall, is set during World War One and features a brave British pilot as the hero. The heroine is caring for orphans at her family’s estate, Highland Hall. I was fascinated to learn how the war impacted soldiers and airmen on the front, as well as families at home in England. There are many lessons we can learn about courage, faith, and standing up for what is right from people and events in history. That’s one reason I enjoy writing historical novels, and I think that’s also why readers like them.
I have several author friends who have written novels set during that era, and we’ve banded together for a special giveaway in honor of this anniversary. These are outstanding stories that will bring the era to life and give you a sense of what it was like to live through this important time in history.
