Jane Austen is my favorite author of the books listed; she made you feel like part of her book and expressed life in olden years just as you imagined it would be in your mind.

Jane Austen is my favorite. I didn’t know much about her until I saw the movie version of “Sense and Sensibility” directed by Ang Lee back in the ’90s. That started an obsession. Since then I have read all of Jane’s novels–some of them several times–and watched all of the screen adaptations of each that I could find. I especially love the fact that Jane’s stories are timeless. They are still as enjoyable to readers today as they were when she wrote them.

I have always loved Jane Austen. My Aunt gave my mom the movie adaptation to Sense and Sensibility with Kate Winslet when I was in high school. I bought Pride and Prejudice on a trip to Florida. When that copy fell apart I bought the movie adaptation with Colin Firth. Jane Austen has been my favorite author due to her insightful way in which she writes about people and the world around her.

Picking a favorite from those 3 is hard!!! I have special reasons for loving each one. If I have to choose a favorite, it would probably be Jane Austen. I’ve read her books and watched movies based on the books multiple times, and I never get tired of them. Because of her books, I love the Regency era and have read Georgette Heyer and multiple Christian novelists who write Regency era books. I think it’s the romance, the happy endings, the style and customs of the day, and the fact that she wrote what she knew. But I could give you just as many reasons why I love Dickens (though primarily The Christmas Carol and the Victorian age) and Potter!

After reading Linda Lear’s biography of Beatrix Potter, I was obsessed! Beatrix Potter created a new form of animal fable, a magical world where anthropomorphized animals behave as real with true animal instincts and are accurately illustrated by a scientific artist. Beatrix “wove the tapestry of her memories, her travels over the landscape and north-country lore into a fanciful, entertaining tale.”

I couldn’t wait to introduce my fourth graders to this classic author! So for Christmas, I created a literary advent/adventure! I gift wrapped the Beatrix Potter collection and each day a student got to pick a gift to unwrap from our Santa bag. We then projected a crackling fire as ambiance on our screen and read the book aloud to the class! While the gift unwrapping was fun, the unboxing of our imaginations was the true joy! Merry Christmas and may your New Year “Bea” joyful one!

Carrie Turansky is my favorite of the authors as I recently was able to read through her McAlister Family series. Since I was a little girl, and discovered the Orphan Train Quartet in a library, I have enjoyed learning about both orphan trains and mail-order brides. The historical facts behind the British Home Children being exported to Canada was new for me. I found myself aching and crying at times at the injustices the innocent children had to endure. Not to mention living relatives…
The sweet romances definitely helped soothe the angst I felt towards some of the characters and their actions. Of course, Turansky did a beautiful job of writing the HEA! Thanks for the opportunity to participate in this book giveaway!

I loved reading Jane Austen in Highschool. We read Pride and Prejudice in my Lit class. In college I read Sense and Sensibility and then decided to read Emma. I wanted to learn more about her and read a biography that told about her early life. I think she was brave to turn down an offer of marriage at a time when that was highly expected of young women. Focusing on her writings made her more aware of other things than just an English home. She was remarkable and very talented. I have also read Dickens and Beatrix Potter to my children and grandchildren. But Austen is someone I just wanted to keep for me.

I got to read books by Beatrix Potter and Charles Dickens during my school days. However, I did not really discover Jane Austen until the famous 5-part TV series of “Pride and Prejudice” came out in the nineties. Both that version, as well as the original book, really brought out her unique voice as an author of the Regency period, as well as her skillful command of the English language. So, she has meanwhile become my favorite of the three authors.

That’s a tough one, but I would have to say Charles Dickens is my favorite, simply because of “A Christmas Carol.” Of course, I also loved Oliver Twist and many others, but my former students and I loved reading and acting out “A Christmas Carol” for years.

I love all of these authors. But Jane Austen is my favorite, because the dialogues between her characters are excellent. I also like her books made into movies as long as they do justice to her work.

Beatrix Potter’s life story tugs at my heartstrings. Her sweet stories and artistry scratch just the surface of her true ability. The tragedy of her love story is so very sad.

Oh no! I love each of these authors, but I gravitate towards Jane Austen. Sense and Sensibility is my favorite. My favorite authors write stories that are set in that same time period.

I like all of these authors. I’ve read all of Jane Austen’s books and several speculative historical fiction books about her life. I also enjoyed Beatrix Potter’s stories and illustrations. I bought a collection of her miniature books for each of my grandchildren. Thank you for the giveaway. Looking forward to this collection.

I have read every Jane Austen book, and watched every movie based on her books, so “The Prayers of Jane Austen” would be my favorite. Although Beatrix Potter’s “The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin” is a close favorite. And the squirrel garden flag is adorable!

Dickens is my favorite of the three but it is a close call. My favorite book by him is A Tale of Two Cities. But his others have such fun wit in them although they are about serious subjects.

I’m completely torn between Charles Dickens and Beatrix Potter.
CD would represent those years of my growing up and BP was ever present as I read to my own children. Her artwork also decorated the nursery and I still have the picture 38 yrs later. I’m leaning toward her only for the sentiment. There are wonderful memories of each.
And then, there’s Jane Austin! How can we choose just one?

Charles Dickens. He was the first of the three I discovered and that happened when I was in 9th grade. I was used to books where I could guess the ending way to soon, but he kept me wondering and reading with anticipation to the very end. He was also such a descriptive author of the settings, environment, mood, and people in his books.
(I want to add that another British author became a favorite several years before I read any Dickens when I fell in love with Philippa Pearce’s book Tom’s Midnight Garden.)

I love all three authors, but since I have to choose, I pick Beatrix Potter. She beat the odds in her time period and found a way to succeed with her books and art work. She didn’t give up and succeeded at publishing her books in color, which was a first. Beatrix also saved her community by buying land and it is still preserved today because of what she did. I also love how she animated animals because animals truly have individual personalities.

Out of all three novellas, the one I liked best was the one about Charles Dickens. It was so well written and I loved the story of his loyal friend who had to determine if his lady friend would choose him and his simple lifestyle over London and a well heeled suiter.

Hands down! I devoured Jane Austen from my earliest memories. My mom read to our family in the evenings as we huddled in blankets around our fireplace. Simply the BEST memories! And Jane with her remarkable characters a stand out.

I love all three of these wonderful authors, but I have a special place in my heart for Beatrix Potter. When I was a little girl, my Mom used to tell me the story of Peter Rabbit. Then when our first child was born, a sweet lady gave me a beautiful illustrated book of the stories of Beatrix Potter. I read those lovely stories over and over again to our four children and then to our five grandchildren when they were little. I would love to receive the little garden flag and the story book and the lovely Christmas book, too!
