What’s on Your Bookshelves?

Hi Friends,

One thing I loved about our house the first time I walked through with the realtor was the built in bookshelves in the living room. In the past we stored all our homeschooling books there, but now they mostly hold some of my favorite novels and a few research books. People often comment about our collection when they visit, and I enjoy sharing books with friends.

My Bookshelves

This basket holds research materials for the novels I am working on now in the Edwardian Brides Series. I’ve had fun collecting books and maps from England on topics like country life, servants in the Edwardian Era, and Downton Abbey, which has been a great inspiration for The Governess of Highland Hall. I do most of my research before I write, but I often go back to check facts or find more information. It looks like I need a bigger basket!

Are you a book collector?  Tell us about your bookshelves and what we might see if we paid you a visit.

Happy Reading!

  1. I have a collection of Jane Austen’s book as well as Georgette Heyer. I have several books on prayer. I have quite a collection of the Love Inspired Historical line from various authors, a few westerns, pirates and several Christian Regency books. The Governess of Highland Hall is also among my book collection.

I definitely don’t have as many books as you have on your bookcases. 🙂

    • Hi Janella, that sounds like a great collection of books! I love those Regency novels too! Thanks for sharing!

    • Hi Sharon, I like to read historical fiction by Cathy Gohlke, Laura Frantz, Lori Benton, and others. I also like contemporary. I loved Dear Mr. Knightly. Have you read it? It’s by Katherine Reay.

  2. I’ve got so many books my husband is attempting to cut me off, at least from physical copies. So we are trying to switch to ebooks only (unless it’s something I just have to have in hardback). We’ve got two shelves of Bible studies and text books from college, language books, study books, Christian fiction, fantasy, classics, reference books on various subjects. We just moved so we still have another 4 boxes to sort through but we need another shelf to contain them all!

And my to-read pile of 31 books is on another shelf by my bed and a shelf in the hall contains most of my manga collection. 😉

    • That sounds like you have a great collection! I have a hard time letting go of my favorite books. They feel like friends.
