The Medallion

Hi Friends, I’m excited to tell you about a wonderful new WW2 novel, The Medallion, by Cathy Gohlke that just released today. I had the privilege of reading an early copy for endorsement, and I think all those who enjoy reading historical fiction will want to get a copy of this outstanding novel.

Here’s my endorsement for The Medallion: “Once again Cathy Gohlke takes us back to WW2 and gives us a deep and powerful story that captures the depth of love and the power of forgiveness in a time a great trial. The events are gripping, and the characters are so real you will remember them long after you finish the book. Five-Stars and highly recommended!”

Back Cover Copy:  An illuminating tale of courage, sacrifice, and survival.

Two couples’ lives are ravaged by Hitler’s mad war but forever linked through the fate of one little girl.

Warsaw, 1939. The German blitzkrieg has shattered the city. As Sophie Kumiega awaits news of her husband, deployed with the Polish Air Force, she is determined to keep her unborn baby safe. She didn’t count on being drawn into the dangerous and all-consuming plight of her neighbors.

Rosa and Itzhak Dunovich never imagined welcoming their longed-for first child in the Jewish ghetto, or letting anything tear their family apart. But Rosa soon faces a terrifying reality: to save their daughter’s life, she must send her into hiding. Her only hope of finding her after the war—if any of them survive—is the half medallion she places around her daughter’s neck.

Inspired by true events of Poland’s darkest days and brightest heroes, The Medallion paints a stunning portrait of war and its aftermath, daring us to believe that when all seems lost, God can make a way forward.

Three-time Christy, and two-time Carol and INSPY Award-winning author, Cathy Gohlke, writes novels steeped with inspirational lessons from history. Her stories reveal how people break the chains that bind them and triumph over adversity through faith. When not traveling to historic sites for research, she, her husband, and their dog Reilly, divide their time between Northern Virginia and the Jersey Shore, enjoying time with their grown children and grandchildren. Visit her website at www.cathygohlke.com and find her on Facebook at Cathy Gohlke Books.

Cathy is a dear friend, and she has been a great support to me on my writing journey. She always encourages me to look to the Lord for direction and insight in my writing and keep pressing on to all He has in store for us. It’s a real joy to share her new book with you!

Happy Reading – Until Next Time,

The Medallion is an amazing book–so poignant and heart-wrenching, but beautifully written and memorable. Definitely one for the keeper shelf! I’m having a hard time putting my feelings into words for a review, though.

Jessica, it’s hard to comprehend the magnitude of that decision, isn’t it? The circumstances were dire. I’m so thankful I’ve never been faced with such a decision.
