    Hi Carrie–
“Soaked” in the era/setting while I read G. of H.H., and the characters were so beautifully drawn. This story was a real treat to read and remained with me long after the last page. What a debut!– So glad I had the opportunity to read your story, Carrie.

    Hi, Carrie!

As I’ve told you many times before, I’m so excited about the release your novel especially because I adore novels about governesses and from what I’ve read about yours, it will be a fabulous one.

I wish I could be at your tea in person, however, I will most certainly be with you in my thoughts.

You asked about Edwardian England. I think is was such an exciting time mostly because of the changes in society where the class differences were beginning to fade. This meant that titled people were most accepting of those in trade. In addition, the technological improvements were vast which not only improved people’s daily lives but helped businesses to grow as well.

Congratulations on your new release and I hope you have a lovely time at the tea!

    All the best!

I sure wish I could attend your teap party in person–tea parties were one of the fun things about the Edwardian–that and their beautiful clothing! I wish we still wore the same type of clothing (other than maybe the tight corsets–they wouldn’t be so great for us who are not so thin. LOL). I DO hope to be at your virtual tea though. Sounds like a bunch of fun for everyone!

      Hi Wilani,

Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment for me. I have never done a video chat either. This is something my publisher set up for me. Here is how I think it will work. People who want to take part will go to my Facebook Author page at 7:00 pm Eastern time on Oct. 15th and click on the bright red button that says Livestream. It is right under where you like the page. Then a new screen will open, and you will see me there. I think there will be a box where you can type in questions and comments. That is how people will be entered in the giveaways during the video chat. Names will be drawn every 10 minutes and announced while the chat is going on. I will not see you, but you will just see me and be able to interact with me by asking questions.

Two other authors are calling in and I will put them on speaker phone so they can talk about their books – Julie Lessman and Joanne Bischof. They are also giving away copies of their books.

The Edwardian Era had to be my favorite of all time. It was brought to my attention by Anne Of Green Gables and I fell in love with it, the parties, the ballgowns, tea in the garden, the fashion and romance. Since then I have been reading many books based in the era to learn more. Too bad I wasn’t born then.

Hello Carrie! It says in my entry that you want to know what I would like about living in Edwardian England. First, I’ve always thought the Edwardian Era would’ve been a nice era to live in, because it still had a lot of Victorian influences, but was also was adjusting to useful modern inventions (like the telephone, automobile, electricity). Second, I like a lot of the Edwardian fashion, still feminine with the long skirts and fancy hats -but more simple and not a full as the Victorian dresses. Some of my favorite Edwardian era stories are Anne of Green Gables, The Secret Garden, and Downton Abbey. Thanks for reading my comment. May your novel be a success! πŸ™‚

Ever since I was about ten I dreamed of living in the Victorian/Edwardian time period of England. I got the 1910 American Girl doll and all her books and loved old dresses and tea parties. Ten years later I still adore the era and love watching period films, going to afternoon tea, and reading about the era, the authors of the time (Beatrix Potter, E.M. Forster, George Bernard Shaw). I would love the changes that were taking place, the Edwardian era was a critical point between two different worlds, yet there was still an elegance that marked the period. La Belle Epoque. I just love the architecture and the aesthetic of the time. Also the hairstyles. I have watched so many tutorials for Edwardian hairstyles. Just waiting until my hair gets longer!

I think the Edwardian Period can be viewed as rather romantic, with garden parties, protection of upper class women, a growing interest in sports and recreation, an acute sense of fashion, and enthusiam for travel. I think living in the Edwardian period in England would be a little better than in some of the decades before. There would be a few more of the conveniences we are used to having. The dresses are probably more comfortable than the hoop skirts of the previous times. There would have been cars, so that would be better than carriages.

If I were alive during the Edwardian period, I’d probably be a household servant of some type. None of my ancestors were rich and all had to work to support themselves and their families πŸ™‚

I think if you had a fare good income might be good, but i guess its no different then anywhere else. Love to see the scenery there. The dress’s were beautiful but I would think would be very heavy. I love hats.
Thanks for such a neat giveaway.

I can’t imagine living in that period. I think that there are negatives and positives. I think it would have been interesting to see the changes in history. From the roles of women, societal traditions that we challenged and that excess…shaking my head.
